Perfect weather prevails across Maryland through the holiday weekend
Weather remains seasonably comfortable through the state's many firework displays this evening. Plan on temperatures cooling back into the upper 70s and lower 80s across greater Baltimore through the evening. The sky remains mostly clear.
It may start to feel a bit muggier as the night goes on. But, considering it is July, it won't feel bad. Get outside and enjoy the nice weather.
The same weather setup that is giving us such nice, sunny weather could also trap some firework smoke closer to the surface tonight, into early Saturday morning.
Sunny and hot holiday weekend
Sunny weather and seasonably hot temperatures will be around for both Saturday and Sunday. Humidity levels start to rise through the back-half of the holiday weekend. High temperatures peak around 90° both Saturday and Sunday afternoons. Plan on a mostly sunny to partly cloudy sky.
The UV Index will remain in the 'very high' to 'extreme' categories each afternoon. Apply and re-apply sunscreen.
Heat, humidity and storms return next week
Typical Maryland summertime weather returns after the holiday.
Morning temperatures trend warmer and mugginess makes a comeback Sunday night, into the beginning of the workweek. Temperatures remain seasonably hot. With more humidity in the forecast, it'll feel even hotter. Isolated, to scattered, showers and storms will bubble up each day. The chance of rain peaks between 1 and 8 p.m. each day.
Tropical Depression 3 has formed in the Atlantic
Our First Alert Weather Team continues to keep an eye on a developing tropical system off the southeast coast.
The National Hurricane Center has classified an area of low pressure south of Charleston, South Carolina, as Tropical Depression Three. It is forecast to strengthen, becoming Tropical Storm Chantal this weekend. Chantal will likely make landfall in South Carolina late Saturday or early Sunday as a minimal Tropical Storm. Heavy rain and rip currents will impact some coastal southeast beaches this weekend. Keep that in mind if you are headed south. Tropical moisture could work its way up to east coast and boost our chance of rain heading into Sunday night or Monday.
Our First Alert Weather Team will continue to update you on the situation as it evolves.
