Much cooler, wetter weather returns to Maryland by the middle of the week
Under a mix of sun and clouds, temperatures are peaking in the low to mid-70s in many areas Sunday afternoon. It's warmest across southern Maryland. Though, BWI has managed to soar into the upper 70s.
Breezy winds continue to blow across the Delmarva. Winds will gust up to 30 MPH through early evening, followed by calmer conditions after sunset. Temperatures quickly cool through the 70s and will be back into the 60s by mid-evening. Temperatures continue to drop overnight, under a clearing sky.
The workweek begins pleasantly. Plan on cool early morning in the upper 40s and lower 50s; milder inside Baltimore City and by the bay. Afternoon temperatures peak in the low to mid-70s in most neighborhoods. There will be a lot of sunshine Monday. Clouds increase Tuesday. It'll remain pleasant feeling through the second day of the workweek.
Spotty light rain showers are possible as early as Tuesday evening. Widespread rain builds in Wednesday morning. Rain remains periodic and light through Wednesday afternoon.
Steadier rain arrives Wednesday evening. Rain may be heavy at times Wednesday night, into early Thursday morning. A few rumbles of thunder are also possible, mainly across southern Maryland. Clouds and wet weather keep the forecast unusually cool through the middle of the workweek. Overnight temperatures bottom-out in the upper 40s in many areas away from the city the middle of the week. Afternoons remain cooler than average; staying in the upper 50s and lower 60s across greater Baltimore.
Drier weather returns late in the workweek. Temperatures start to warm back up heading into next weekend.
