3 Boston Red Sox players selected for the American League All-Star team
Three Boston Red Sox players were named to the American League All-Star team Sunday: Pitchers Garrett Crochet and Aroldis Chapman and third baseman Alex Bregman.
The 2025 MLB All-Star Game will take place on July 15 at Truist Park in Atlanta, Georgia.
Garrett Crochet makes 2nd career All-Star team
This is the second All-Star selection for Crochet, who was named to the team last year when he was with the Chicago White Sox. In his first season with the Red Sox, Crochet has established himself as the team's undisputed ace. He leads the league in strikeouts with 151 and ranks seventh in the league with a 2.39 ERA.
Aroldis Chapman named to 8th All-Star team
Chapman has been named to the All-Star Team for the eighth time of his 16-year MLB career. He's now made four AL All-Star squads and four National League All-Star teams, with his last nod in 2021 as a member of the New York Yankees.
Chapman has only one blown save all season with Boston. He's converted 15 of his 16 opportunities and has a 1.25 ERA for the season.
Alex Bregman makes 3rd All-Star team
Bregman has been named to his third All-Star team and first since 2019, despite being out with a quad strain since May. In 51 games, Bregman has slashed .299/.385/.553 with 11 home runs and 35 RBI in his first season with the Red Sox.
Bregman was not in the Boston locker room when Alex Cora made the All-Star announcements on Sunday, but was part of the festivities thanks to a video call with shortstop Trevor Story.
The All-Star announcements were made Sunday on ESPN right after the Red Sox beat the the Washington Nationals, 6-4. to complete a three-game sweep.
The Red Sox are 46-45 on the season and fourth place in the AL East division, 6.5 games back from the Toronto Blue Jays.
