A flatbed truck crashed into a building on the Shriver Job Corps Center campus in Devens, Massachusetts on Monday morning, injuring 13 people including the truck driver.

The crash on Jackson Road happened just after 10:30 a.m. WBZ-TV's helicopter showed part of the truck inside the horseshoe-shaped building. It appeared that the truck first drove through a metal fence and scraped the side of the building, taking out windows in the process.

The crash is being investigated by State Police. The agency said preliminary information does not indicate that the crash was intentional.

The driver was airlifted to the hospital. Six others were hospitalized, and six more were treated by the center's medical staff on scene.

Devens Fire Chief Tim Kelly said the truck ended up inside the lobby.

"Luckily there were not a lot of students in the building at the time," he said. "The injuries so far as we know were fairly minor."

Kelly said the crash could have been much worse. "The greatest concern was that he hit the gas main leading into the building, so the guys had to really work aggressively to get the gas under control," Kelly said.

The Devens building is one of three Job Corps centers in Massachusetts that serve 900 young people in the state. CBS News reported last month that the futures of thousands of students in the Job Corps are in limbo as the Trump administration seeks to shut down the nationwide program.
