9 hospitalized after crash involving cars, Pace bus on Chicago's Far South Side
Nine people were taken to area hospitals after a crash involving a Pace bus in the West Pullman neighborhood on Chicago's Far South Side Wednesday night.
The crash happened at 7:19 p.m. in the 12700 block of South Halsted Street and involved a Pace bus and several cars.
Chicago police said an SUV, driven by a 31-year-old man and with a 26-year-old and 34-year-old man as passengers, was going east on Vermont Street at Halsted Street.
Police said the driver ignored a traffic signal and was hit by two sedans and a Pace bus.
The driver of the SUV and the 34-year-old passenger were taken to Christ Hospital, both in critical condition.
The 26-year-old passenger was also taken to Christ Hospital in good condition.
The driver of the first sedan, a 27-year-old woman, was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition. The passenger, a 6-year-old boy, was taken to Comer Children's Hospital in good condition.
Both occupants of the second sedan refused treatment.
Three women on the bus, aged 32, 62, and 66, were taken to Roseland Hospital in good condition. A fourth passenger, a 46-year-old woman, was taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital in good condition.
