Chicago breaks ground on O'Hare International Airport expansion, Concourse D construction
The city of Chicago is finally breaking ground on a major expansion to O'Hare International Airport Monday that has been in the works for nearly a decade.
The new Concourse D will add 19 gates to Terminal One and, for the first time, allow the terminal to service international arrivals.
The concourse will initially be an expansion of Concourse C before it becomes a standalone concourse of its own. The ability to handle international arrivals will in turn relieve pressure on Terminal Five's customers facilities and allow for more seamless connections between Untied and its international partner airlines.
Construction is scheduled for completion in late 2028.
