Man electrocuted by the third rail on Red Line in downtown Chicago
A death investigation is underway after a man ended up on the CTA tracks in downtown Chicago on Monday morning.
Chicago police said the man was electrocuted by the third rail at the State and Lake station, but the circumstances surrounding the incident are unknown at this time. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
CTA Red Line trains were rerouted to elevated tracks for hours during the morning commute and have moved back to its normal route.
Trains are not stopping at Lake Street as the investigation continues.
CTA officials confirmed Purple Line service in The Loop was also impacted.
It is not clear how long the delays will continue.
