Chicago police are searching for the driver who hit and killed a pedestrian early Saturday morning on the city's North Side.

Police said the pedestrian — identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner's office as Brendan Siddall, 26 — was found near the roadway on southbound DuSable Lake Shore Drive near Addison Street shortly after 3:30 a.m. Siddall was unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver did not stop to aid the victim and left the scene in an unknown direction.

The Office of Emergency Management and Communication said northbound lanes were closed from Recreation Drive to Irving Park Road for investigation. All lanes reopened around 9:18 a.m. on Saturday.

Siddall had been a member of the Chicago Gay Men's Chorus since 2018. The performing arts organization said Siddall "lit up the stage in several performances, sharing their talent and energy with joy and authenticity."

Siddall was also president of the Chicago Gay Men's Chorus membership council.

"Brendan had a unique gift for making people feel welcomed, seen, and valued," the chorus said in a statement. "Their warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew them."

The vehicle that struck Siddall was described as a white colored 2019 Honda Accord 4-door sedan, with Illinois plate number FH49505.
