Metra BNSF line resumes normal service after freight train hits semi in LaGrange
Service on the Metra BNSF line was disrupted for several hours Friday afternoon, after a freight train hit a semi-trailer truck at the station in LaGrange, Illinois.
The LaGrange Police Department said a freight train struck a semi at the La Grange Road crossing shortly before 2 p.m.. All vehicle and pedestrian traffic in that area is cut off during the investigation and residents are being asked to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
All Metra BNSF trains were halted between Fairview Ave. and Berwyn for more than four hours after the crash. Two tracks were cleared by 6:30 p.m., and inbound and outbound trains resumed making all normal scheduled stops.
Some trains might be operating with extensive delays after the crash.
The Union Pacific West line can be used as an alternate route, according to Metra.
