Rideshare driver shot in back while driving passenger in Chicago Lawn neighborhood, police say
A rideshare driver was shot while traveling with a passenger on the city's Southwest Side on Monday afternoon.
The shooting happened shortly after 1 p.m. in the 6300 block of South Francisco Avenue in the Chicago Lawn neighborhood.
According to Chicago police, the driver, a 63-year-old man, and the passenger, a 23-year-old man, were inside a blue sedan when an unknown person exited a residence and fired multiple shots in the victim's direction.
The 63-year-old was hit in his lower back and self-transported to St. Bernard Hospital in good condition. The 23-year-old was not hurt.
Police said the shooter ran from the scene in an unknown direction, and no arrests were made.
Area 1 detectives are investigating.
