Police say assault led to barricade situation in West Bloomfield
Police were on the scene into the overnight hours Thursday near the area of West 14 Mile Road and Orchard Lake in West Bloomfield, Michigan.
The circumstances involved a woman who lived in the 7400 block of Brynmawr Court and her adult son. The caller told dispatchers that her son had struck her and that she had left the house while her son remained inside.
After officers arrived, phone negotiations with the man began. West Bloomfield Police issued a public notice about 9 p.m. asking people to avoid the area if possible.
The man ultimately agreed to leave the house, and once outside, he was arrested on a charge of domestic assault and battery. West Bloomfield police issued a follow-up notice at 6:15 a.m. Friday that the situation "has been resolved."
The case remains under investigation.
