Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office deputy charged with receipt and production of child sexual abuse material, DOJ says
A Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office deputy was arrested Wednesday on federal charges of receiving and producing visual depictions involving the sexual exploitation of minors, the U.S. Department of Justice announced.
The complaint against 51-year-old Carle Miranda Blum alleges she received multiple videos and images of a 17-year-old victim engaged in sexually explicit conduct, according to the DOJ.
In spring 2025, Blum is accused of traveling to Atlanta, Georgia, where according to federal officials, she recorded videos of herself engaging in sex acts with the minor.
Deputy faces stiff penalties
The charges carry significant prison sentences. The production charge alone carries a mandatory minimum of 15 years and up to 30 years in prison, while the receipt charge carries a mandatory minimum of 5 years and up to 20 years, the DOJ noted.
MDSO sheriff responds
Miami-Dade Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz released a statement Wednesday afternoon regarding Blum's arrest, expressing deep concern:
"I am very disturbed by the arrest of one of our deputies on charges related to receipt and production of visual depictions involving the sexual exploitation of minors.
These allegations are not only criminal, they are a betrayal of the badge, the public trust, and the oath we swear to uphold.
The actions alleged stand in direct opposition to everything we represent as law enforcement officers and as human beings.
We have assisted our federal partners throughout the investigation, and I remain committed to full transparency and accountability, no matter who is involved."
