2 dead in Miami Gardens shooting after fight in club, police say
A fight in a Miami Gardens club early Wednesday morning led to a deadly shooting in the parking lot in which two people were killed.
The shooting happened around 2:30 a.m. in the parking lot in front of Cru Lounge, at U.S. 441 and NW 215 Street.
"A fight that started inside the establishment that led out into the parking lot. Firearms were produced and rounds were exchanged," Miami Gardens police Sgt. Emanuel Jeanty said.
A source told CBS Miami that everyone is patted down for weapons before entering the club and that four people had been kicked out for fighting. He said they walked to their cars, grabbed guns and that's when things took a deadly turn.
Several witnesses said they saw a man beating a woman before the shots were fired. Police have not confirmed this.
When officers arrived, police said they found two people who had been shot, one was dead and the other was taken to a hospital where they died.
According to the witnesses, the woman is okay and one of the people who died was the man who had been hitting her.
Sebastian Gonzalez lives across the street from the lounge.
"I was asleep, and then I woke up. Next thing I hear is a bang. At first, I was like that's some weird sound, and then it kept happening followed by screaming," he said. "We kind of already figured someone had to be killed."
Police originally said one suspect was detained and another was at-large. A short time later, they provided an update.
"As we were able to piece the information together, we realized that we did have all parties on scene," said Jeanty.
Police have not released the names of those involved.
