Suspect in custody after standoff in Maple Grove
A suspect is in custody after allegedly shooting at someone in Maple Grove, Minnesota, Sunday night before an hourslong standoff with police.
The Maple Grove Police Department said it responded to a report of a person with a gun on the 13200 block of 90th Avenue North around 7:30 p.m. At some point, he fired toward a citizen, the department said, though it's unclear if anyone was injured.
When police arrived, the suspect went into his home. Authorities then began negotiating with him and "the situation was resolved peacefully" with his surrender at 6:30 a.m. Monday, police said. He is in custody and is expected to face charges.
Several agencies assisted in the standoff.
Police said the incident was unconnected to the shootings of two lawmakers and their spouses on Saturday.
