Hot, humid end to week in Minnesota before rain returns over weekend

NEXT Weather: 10 p.m. report for Minnesota on July 3, 2025 03:09

Daytime heating could spark isolated storms in southern Minnesota and western Wisconsin on Thursday.

Expect highs near 90 degrees with increasing humidity. A heat advisory is in effect in parts of west-central Minnesota from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

On Friday, a more widespread heat advisory will be in effect from noon to 8 p.m. in the Twin Cities. The Arrowhead and northern Wisconsin are also included, with the advisory kicking in an hour earlier in those regions.

Heat index values will approach 100, and a stray pop-up storm could disrupt some Fourth of July fireworks displays. Most, however, will stay dry.

A better chance for storms will develop later Friday across western and northern Minnesota. Some of these could be strong to severe as they make their way closer to the metro overnight into early Saturday.

Additional storms are possible later Saturday with daytime heating, as the low will still be tracking across the state. That system brings some relief from the heat as highs return closer to normal in the low 80s.

Some models show another isolated storm chance late Monday into Tuesday, but the pattern into next week largely looks calm and quiet.
