St. Paul police officer hurt when squad hits building after near-crash with motorist, state patrol says
A St. Paul police officer was hurt in a crash overnight Thursday after they struck a building in their squad car following a close call with another vehicle.
The Minnesota State Patrol said it happened at about 1 a.m. at the intersection of North Milton Street and Thomas Avenue in the Frogtown community.
The officer was traveling east on Thomas Avenue when they "had to swerve to avoid another car that was southbound from Milton Street," the patrol said.
The two vehicles didn't collide, but the officer hit a light pole before driving into a brick building nearby.
The officer, who was alone at the time, suffered minor injuries and was taken to an area hospital. Their current condition is unknown.
The state patrol is still investigating.
