A teenage girl was stabbed to death at a Bronx deli on Tuesday, police say.

Officers were sent to the shop on Boston Road near Mickle Avenue just before 4 p.m. for a report of a stabbing. When they arrived, they found a 16-year-old girl suffering from multiple stab wounds, including wounds to her head.

She was taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The victim has been identified as Aliyah Williams, of the Bronx.

According to police, Williams and the female suspect got into some kind of argument before the stabbing. It's unclear if Williams and the suspect knew each other.

The suspect ran away before officers arrived. No arrests have been made at this time.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call police.

Violence shocks loved ones, Bronx community

Rose Anderson, Williams' grandmother, came to the scene of the stabbing after leaving the hospital.

"Only thing I heard that two girls walked her down to the smoke shop, they have a confrontation and they stab her," Anderson said.

Anderson said Williams had texted her Tuesday morning.

"She's a nice person, she has manners, she listens to her parents and she goes to school," she said.

People who live in the area were shocked by the violence.

"I never saw anything like that happen here. I been here for almost two years," one woman said. "Two years that I live here, I never saw that happen."

"It's scary, man, 'cause there's kids down the block, there's kids at the school down the block," one man said. "So, you know, even though school is out, man, it's scary 'cause there's a lot of kids going back and forth here."

Now, the community is mourning a life taken so suddenly and so young.

"May her soul rest in peace and always be with us," Anderson said.
