Missing girl found dead after Amber Alert in Lake George

The search for Melina Frattolin ended in tragedy Sunday after state police found her body in Ticonderoga, New York, roughly 40 miles from where she was reported missing in Lake George.
An was issued for the 9-year-old girl after her father reported she was abducted Saturday from Exit 22 on I-87, state police said.
Investigators later said they discovered inconsistencies in the father's account of events, and there is no indication that an abduction occurred. They also said there is no threat to the public.
Both the father and daughter are from Canada.
New York Gov. Kathy Hochul posted on social media, saying, "The New York State Police are leading the investigation and working tirelessly to hold those responsible fully accountable."

Amber Alert canceled in disappearance of Melina Frattolin
The Amber Alert had said Frattolin was last seen at around 9:40 p.m. Saturday in a white van traveling south on I-87 near Exit 22 in Lake George.
She was described as 5 feet tall, 100 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes, wearing a blue and white striped shirt, shorts and white Adidas sneakers.
At the time, police said they believed she may have been in danger of serious bodily harm or death and asked anyone with information to call the Warren County Sheriff's Office at 518-743-2501, or call 911 if she was seen.
Lake George is a popular vacation area located along I-87 in the Adirondack Region.
