Photos show aftermath of car that accidentally reversed into Kohl's in Turnersville, New Jersey
It was an action-packed afternoon at a South Jersey Kohl's after a driver accidentally reversed into the department store on Sunday.
Washington Township police said a male driver accidentally backed into the front entrance of the Kohl's store, located on Route 42 in Turnersville, New Jersey, at around 1:15 p.m.
Fortunately, neither the driver nor any other shoppers or Kohl's workers were injured, police said.
Rylee O'Neil, 17, told CBS News Philadelphia she was shopping at Kohl's when the SUV came crashing through.
"Everyone hears like a big smash, and I thought personally like someone maybe got angry and like pushed something over. But then there was a car that just drove through it backwards," O'Neil said. "So our guesses were maybe he, like, went to hit the brake [while] reversing and hit the gas instead. But he, like, didn't stop until he was fully through the doors and fully like in the clothing aisle."
The Washington Township Building Inspector was called to the store to assess the structural damage to the building.
While the department store is still open for business, residents were asked to avoid the area as response crews remained on site Sunday afternoon.
