Sunday marks the first 90-degree day of the year, with Pittsburgh officially reaching 92 degrees for the afternoon high temperatures.

Aware: Extreme heat warning in effect from Sunday through Wednesday for the Pittsburgh metro, storms possible late week.
This is the hottest day of 2025 so far. There will be plenty of opportunities in the upcoming week for more 90-degree days and extremely warm, humid nights.
The heat dome will peak in intensity on Tuesday-Wednesday with blazing sunshine to start the week and a stray shower or storm chance creeping in late Tuesday with better chances Wednesday and Thursday. Hot air will stay in place through the end of the workweek, with a bit of a break into the upper 80s forecast for next weekend.
Pittsburgh will be closest to record highs on Monday (95 degrees set in 1894) and Tuesday (96 degrees set in 1882). DuBois and Morgantown, West Virginia, which are other sites in our coverage area that keep long-term climate records, may also break record highs from Monday to Wednesday.
While we may stay just shy of record highs, record warm low temperatures are very likely to be met in Pittsburgh, along with Morgantown and DuBois.
Air temperatures will struggle to drop below 70 degrees at night, which makes this heat very dangerous for those who don't have air conditioning.
Extreme heat is the leading killer of all weather-related hazards, so individuals should take precautions in this upcoming stretch.
A stray shower or storm may pop up in the heat of the day on Tuesday, with slightly better chances of showers and storms Wednesday and Thursday, with a bit of relief from the heat by next weekend.
