Suspect barricaded in Carmichael home on Hilltop Drive arrested
CARMICHAEL – Sacramento County deputies have arrested a suspect they say barricaded himself in a Carmichael home on Sunday afternoon.
Around 5 p.m., deputies were alerted by a homeowner that someone was seen on security cameras trying to rip down the cameras.
When the homeowner rushed home to confront the suspect, investigators said the suspect bolted into the neighbor's backyard.
The suspect eventually ran inside the neighbor's home and barricaded himself, deputies said.
The neighbor reported to deputies that he had a gun inside the house, raising concerns that the suspect would find it.
The suspect was inside the home by himself. Deputies said they flew a drone inside the home, finding the suspect unarmed on a bed.
He was taken into custody with help from a K-9. The suspect was identified as 31-year-old Gabriel Ramosmascarenas, deputies said.
Surrounding homes were evacuated and some sheltered in place.
