Galt man arrested after firing shot through neighbor's door, police say
A man was arrested in Galt after he fired a shot through his downstairs neighbor's front door early Saturday morning, police said.
Just before 4:30 a.m., police said they responded to the 400 block of North Lincoln Way for a report that a person's upstairs neighbor fired a shot through their front door and returned to his apartment.
Nearby apartments were evacuated while some chose to shelter in place, police said. SWAT and Elk Grove officers responded to the scene.
The suspect was identified as 40-year-old Javier Ordaz of Galt, police said. Ordaz is a convicted felon with prior robbery convictions, police said.
Officers said they served a search warrant at Ordaz's home, where they recovered a stolen gun they say they believe was used to fire the shot through the front door.
Ordaz was arrested on multiple charges and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
Officers closed part of Lincoln Way during the incident.
