San Jose woman arrested in connection with body found in burned commercial building
A San Jose woman was arrested after a body was found in a burned building on Monday, police said on Tuesday.
Just before 4 a.m. Sunday, the San Jose Police Department that officers were sent to a fire at a commercial building on the 200 block of North 27th Street. Officers learned that the fire was likely caused by arson and began investigating along with the San Jose Fire Department, police said.
First responders were unable to safely search the building, but police said there were "multiple indicators" that a victim was inside the building. Police identified the suspect as 35-year-old Yessenia Estrada.
On Monday, police said the deceased victim was found, and that Estrada was arrested on suspicion of arson and murder. Court documents shared on Wednesday by the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office show she now faces arson and involuntary manslaughter charges.
The identity of the victim was not released as of Tuesday evening.
