Temperatures to sky rocket into the triple-digits in North Texas Wednesday, before a slight cool down

Wednesday tied our warmest day of the year so far, with a high of 94° at DFW. We also hit 94° yesterday. Because of humidity, "feels-like" temps were into the triple digits for parts of the region. We were 11° above average for this point in the year.

We didn't quite reach the record for the date of 95°, as cloud coverage started to build as we were getting into peak heating hours.

The forecast remains warm and above-average for much of the extended period. For Thursday, highs drop back to the lower 90s, with increased cloud coverage.

We'll also see a very isolated shower/storm chance during the afternoon as a dryline nudges eastward.

Highs look to return to the middle 90s Friday, which will once again be a near-record for the date.

As far as storm chances go, we have a dryline that will approach our western counties as we end the week and head into the weekend. This area will be a focus for isolated to scattered storm development this weekend.

It's not a weekend washout, but it is a timeframe to be weather-aware, as any storms that do pop up will carry a severe threat for damaging wind gusts and large hail primarily.

That threat continues into the start of the next workweek, before tapering off midweek.
