Heat advisory in effect across North Texas on Thursday as "feels-like" temperatures could reach 105 degrees
North Texas is under its first heat advisory of the summer.
Thursday marked the hottest day of the year so far for the DFW metroplex, as our high temperature topped out at 98° at DFW Airport.
Feels-like temperatures were even hotter across the region, ranging from 100-108° during peak heating.
Friday will be similar, and perhaps a degree or so hotter, which is why our heat advisory is back in effect for Friday, for feels-like temperatures between 105-107°.
Forecasted air temperature highs are expected to be close to triple digits. But as of Thursday, we have still not hit the triple digits at DFW this year.
As we head into the weekend, an area of tropical moisture starts to move toward us, bringing isolated rain chances to North Texas and better chances to East Texas.
This brings low-end, 20% rain chances for us on Saturday. It will also result in additional cloud coverage, dropping temperatures back into the middle 90s.
However, our humidity rises, so feels-like temperatures will still be near advisory criteria for the weekend.
This ridge of high pressure continues to bring seasonable hot temperatures to the region into next week.
