USPS postal worker robbed at gunpoint in Englewood, Chicago police say
A postal worker woman was robbed at gunpoint Tuesday afternoon in the city's Englewood neighborhood, Chicago police said Wednesday.
Just before 3 p.m., Chicago police said a 20-year-old woman was approached by four people, one armed with a handgun, in the 700 block of West 73rd Street. They demanded her property, which she handed over and then the suspects ran off.
No injuries were reported.
The United States Postal Inspection Service confirmed the victim is a postal worker. The USPS Inspection Service is investigating the incident along with Chicago police.
Postal inspectors said postal property was taken in the robbery, though they did not say whether that was mail or property related to the postal worker's job. Past robberies in Chicago have targeted postal workers in the city, taking mail and their universal keys, which provide them with access to mailboxes and apartment buildings.
No arrests have been made in this case. An investigation is ongoing.
