Suspect fatally shot during home invasion in Joliet, Illinois, identified
The suspect who was shot and killed by a woman during a home invasion on Friday night was identified.
The Will County Coroner identified the man as 36-year-old Shelby Hurd.
Joliet police said the woman heard someone break into her home in the 7000 block of Hadrian Drive. She grabbed a gun and her child, and then both hid in a bedroom closet on the second floor.
Police said when the suspect entered the bedroom, the woman opened fire, killing Hurd.
The suspect, who is unknown to the victim, was wearing gloves and in possession of a screwdriver at the time of the incident.
Investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
