Laguna Beach authorities issued evacuation orders for some residents living near the Rancho Fire.

The city urged residents living on La Mirada Street, Katella Street, Summit Drive and Baja Street to evacuate. An evacuation warning was issued to the Arch Beach Heights neighborhood. Authorities have established an evacuation center at the Laguna Beach Community and Susi Q Center located at 380 Third Street.

"We're fortunate today to not have a wind event, however, we are dealing with very steep terrain," Orange County Fire Authority Captain Sean Doran said.

Doran added that firefighters used many of the aerial units they had at their disposal, including helicopters and retardant-dropping planes. Firefighters quickly stopped the forward progress of the blaze by the time it reached about four acres.

Laguna Beach Mayor Alex Rounaghi said authorities suspect fireworks started the Rancho Fire.

"I just hope it's not true," resident Judea Jensen said. "I hope that people are smart enough."
