Storms have moved out of the Philadelphia region as the NEXT Weather team is no longer tracking active tornado or thunderstorm warnings, but another line of possible storms will move through the area tonight. The timing of the potential next wave of rain is likely between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m.

All tornado warnings that have been issued in South Jersey have expired or been canceled as of 1:30 p.m. Friday.

Earlier this afternoon, the National Weather Service said a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was spotted near Bridgeton around 12:42 p.m. and moving southeast at 30 mph. Radar indicated rotation in the storm, the NWS said.

We have issued a NEXT Weather Alert for these storms and will keep you updated as they move across the region.

We are dealing with multiple flash flood warnings around the region as heavy rain runs off to streams and creeks. Some roads have been flooded due to this heavy rain as well, leading to multiple water rescues.

Here are the warnings and watches currently in effect in the Philadelphia region.

Flash flood warnings

  • Pennsylvania: Flash Flood Warning for Bucks and Montgomery counties until 4:30 p.m.
  • New Jersey: Flash Flood Warning for Atlantic, Cape May, Ocean counties until 5:45 p.m., Burlington County until 5:30 p.m., and Camden, Gloucester and Salem counties until 5 p.m.

Flood warning

  • Pennsylvania: Flood Warning is in effect for Berks County until 7:30 p.m. and Montgomery County until 8 p.m.

Severe thunderstorm watch

  • New Jersey: Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Cape May County until 5 p.m.

The National Weather Service has said storms were observed with wind gusts up to 60 mph and hail the size of a quarter.
