Passing rain drops temperatures slightly in North Texas
There was some rain over North Texas Saturday afternoon. Across the metroplex, a few won the rain lottery; there was only about 30% coverage.
Flood advisories were issued in our northeast counties from slow-moving storms dropping 2"-3" of rain. Meanwhile, the heat advisory that triggered our First Alert Weather Day ends at 9 p.m., though rain-cooled air over the metroplex removed the heat danger in the late afternoon hours.
DFW logged the two hottest days of the year so far to close the work week.
Saturday, the clouds and showers brought temperatures down, high humidity (dewpoints in the 70s) still produced a few spots of heat indices over 105°F.
Expect temperatures in the mid-90s on Sunday.
The humidity won't be as bad, so we are not expecting a heat advisory. Just your typical summer heat.
There will again be some storms that develop in the late afternoon, but coverage is expected to be much less than Saturday. An outflow boundary could come up from afternoon storms to our south and trigger evening storms in North Texas.
