Temperatures to reach triple digits in North Texas later this week, with small rain chances this weekend

Tuesday was an average day in North Texas, as high temperatures topped out in the mid to upper 90s for the metroplex.

Thanks to the cloud coverage due to a low-pressure system to our west, we didn't get hotter than that. But that all starts to change in the next few days.

A ridge of high pressure to our east really takes hold, and we'll expect clearer skies and even hotter temperatures.

By Thursday, we are looking at our first triple-digit day of the year, followed by another on Friday.

Feels-like temps will be near advisory criteria by Friday, thanks to high humidity.

A reminder to stay hydrated, take frequent breaks in the shade and A/C if you are spending time outdoors, and be sure to check the pavement on dog walks.

A weak disturbance rolls through into the upcoming weekend, and as a result, our cloud coverage increases, so temperatures dip just below the triple digits. Humidity builds, however, so feels-like temps will still be very high.

Long-range forecasts keep the heat in place for North Texas beyond the 7-day.
