Crews knock down brush fire in the Beverly Crest area
Crews on Wednesday afternoon knocked down a small brush fire that was burning along a hillside in the Beverly Crest area.
The blaze, dubbed the Spur Fire, was first reported at about 1:30 p.m. near North San Ysidro Drive, north of Beverly Hills and east of Franklin Canyon.
The the fire was slow-moving on steep terrain and was about one-quarter of an acre in size before being contained by 3 p.m.
"You can't be over precautious when you live in the hills," said Michael Green, whose mother lives in the neighborhood. "In this day and age, it's getting drier, we're having more droughts, so this kind of our future unfortunately."
No structures were threatened and no evacuations were ordered.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
