Los Angeles County Fire Department crews have contained a fast-moving brush fire in Castaic on Tuesday afternoon.

The Bert Fire started around 2:30 p.m. in the area of The Old Road and Biscailuz Drive. The fire scorched 47 acres, but no injuries or damage were reported.

Water-dropping aircraft were used to help contain the fire, and forward progress was stopped in under two hours. Crews remained on the scene to continue mopping up hot spots in the burn area Tuesday afternoon.

The cause remains under investigation.

The Bert Fire broke out as parts of Southern California brace for triple-digit heat beginning Wednesday. A heat advisory has been issued for the Inland Empire and the valleys. KCAL News issued a Next Weather Alert Wednesday through Friday for the heat-related event.
